SAREE KA GUNIJAN KHANA:  Multi-disciplinary events celebrating the Saree

CURTAIN RAISER: The Saree Shopping Walk, Mumbai: Dadar and Matunga Saree findings

The Saree Shopping Walk takes us on a magical journey of the Saree universe of India. Led by festival curator Himanshu Verma, the walk covers various little known Saree shops in Dadar and Matunga areas, uncovering precious traditional Sarees amidst neighbourhoods bursting with Maharashtrian and South-Indian cultures.

Meeting Point: Plaza Theatre, Dadar, 6 pm sharp

Participants are requested to wear Sarees / dhotis to the walk.

Saree Gossip: An interaction with Saree bloggers & stylists of Mumbai

A flirtatious banter with leading Saree bloggers and stylists of the city.  The discussion unravels the several ways in which today’s leading style icons are engaging with the classical drapes of India, foregrounding narratives of continuity and change in the Saree world.

Featuring Divya (The Powder Puff Gal), Isha Priya Singh (Desi Drapes), Neelakshi Singh (Plump to Pretty), Sonali Kumar, and Savitha Suri.

Entry open to all. No prior registration required.
